Counseling & Care: Truth & Love

In the fall of 2023, we hosted the Gender, Sexuality & The Church series led by Senior Pastor, Dr. David Swanson, in which we invited our Church Family and the city of Orlando to engage in a discussion surrounding gender, sexuality, and the Divine Design for our identities.

In this edition of Counseling & Care, Dr. Gibson discusses his hindsights since our fall series – answering two questions that remain unanswered:

First, what is something we can learn about the character of God?

And second, what Biblical passage highlights best that Jesus not only loves us in our struggle, but that He understands our experience?

Dr. Gibson unpacks the importance of balancing Truth and grace as we engage with these topics, then points to helpful resources for all who may be struggling or wish to learn more: When Children Come Out by Mark Yarhouse & Olya Zaporozhets & Embracing the Journey by Greg & Lynn McDonald.

We encourage you to approach these issues with a posture of Truth and Love. Our hope is that this episode leads you to a greater understanding of who Christ is, and the compassion and grace He has for you. How can you share that compassion with others in your life?

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
