BIG NEWS FOR WEEKDAY SCHOOL!
Our beloved Weekday School Director, Beth Hewitt, will step away from her role at First Pres this summer to complete requirements for her new career in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. We pray for Beth’s educational and new career pursuits and know that she will continue making a world of difference for the Kingdom with everyone she counsels in the future.
As Beth plans to transition out of her role, we’ll welcome Covenant Partner and seasoned educator, Kara Pastis, as our new Director of Weekday School. Kara has been teaching at The First Academy where her children attend. With experience teaching PreK, elementary, middle school, and post-secondary levels, a Masters of Education from University of Florida, and extensive guidance and Godly wisdom from mentors, colleagues and principals, Kara has been uniquely prepared to take the reins at Weekday School.
Most recently, God placed a call on Kara’s heart to mold young hearts and mentor moms just as she and her children were cared for by the Weekday School and our Church Family beginning 17 years ago. Prepared for “such a time as this,” Kara will usher Weekday School into a new season of deep community, inspired learning and beautiful witness of the love of Jesus.
Not only will the Weekday School celebrate a new Director in the fall, but our smallest students will begin the ‘23-’24 school year with a NEW PLAYGROUND! With a $150,000 investment for enhanced accessibility, improved drainage, fire truck and play house features, shock absorbing foundation, and an entirely new play structure, our students’ learning will soar through play and nurture in the new school year!
Please join us in wishing Beth the very best in her new pursuits, and welcoming Kara to the Weekday School team. God has blessed us with a thriving preschool to Love our City for the past 73 years and this is just the beginning! Pray for this transition. Pray for our children. Pray for our teachers. Pray for the upcoming school year, and wish a hearty congrats to our faithful, servant leaders, Beth & Kara!
