Meet Dr. Paul Gibson, Associate Minister of Congregational Care!

We’re excited to introduce our new Associate Minister of Congregational Care, Dr. Paul Gibson! We sat down and asked Paul about his life and family. Get to know Paul and consider sending a personal welcome with any additional questions and an invite to lunch!

Tell us about your family.

Tara and I have been married for almost 20 years. We have a daughter, Natalie, who is 13 and enjoys acting, being creative, and gymnastics. We have a son, Isaac, who is 10 and enjoys soccer, basketball, and video games. As a family, we love Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, and good stories. We also love Tucker, our dog.

Where are you from?

I am from Pineville, Kentucky which is in the heart of Appalachia.

Tell us about your education and past work experience.

I have a Masters of Arts in Transformational Leadership from Bethel Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry in Marriage and Family Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I have been a senior pastor the last seven years. I have served in ministry roles in Kentucky, Chicago, and Texas.

How did you come to Christ?

My journey of faith started young, being the grandson of a minister. I learned about Jesus my entire childhood and made a confession of faith at the age of 13.

What are your favorite things to do in your spare time?

Read, write, run, build legos, and watch Ted Lasso and anything on Disney+.

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Swirl.

Sweet or Salty?

Sweet.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can play the ukulele.

What makes you most excited about joining the ministry of First Pres?

The sweet spirit of the church and its mission to serve and love the city of Orlando. And, the opportunity to use my shepherding and coaching skills.
