#WeAreFirstPres: Faith Forged Friends

In recent months, a small group of First Pres ladies wanting to grow deeper in their love and knowledge of God, chose to pursue one another through authentic, faith-filled friendship. Women’s Ministry Director, Shannon Basso, made clear their goal: “We want to engage our whole selves — minds, hearts and hands — in the discipleship process. We are studying the way God's Story impacts our own stories and identities, and how we might live more fully in light of the Gospel.”

Carolyn Caplan, member of the budding group, said, “As we’ve shared our stories, it’s exciting to see how Christ has worked in each of our lives, bringing us to where we are growing spiritually, and are hungry for His Word.” Their differences make them stronger. “Our spiritual stories vary, along with our ages, but we have a bond no one could predict… our common ground is that we’re sisters in Christ, seeking transformation in Him. Our sisterhood and the power of prayer have led to radical relationships with each other."

The inclusive and intentional focus of these faith-forged friends is transformative. The group flourishes with deeper discussion, affection and accountability. “Learning from these Godly women and seeing the heart of Christ within them has been a catalyst in my spiritual journey,” said Carolyn, “These women inspire me not only to engage my head and heart in learning about Christ, but to involve my hands in living out his mission. I look forward to meeting each week knowing I’ll always come away with greater insight, knowledge and ways of implementing Biblical truths in my life and my other relationships.”

It’s not too late to join the Women’s Fall Small Group Study through Hebrews.
