Noon Time Moments of Peace and Prayer

Hello and welcome to Noon Time Prayer during Holy Week.

This week we turn to the Gospels to walk with Jesus during his last days before his death and resurrection.  We will continue to prayerfully read a place in God’s Word and then pray for our church, city, country, world, and own lives.   May God encourage our hearts as we pray together from our homes!

HERE IS AN OUTLINE FOR OUR PRAYER TIME THIS WEEK (BEGINNING ON MONDAY, APRIL 6):

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty God,

During Holy Week, we thank You for Your Presence with us and that we can turn to you at any time and any place.  Guide this time of conversation with You.  As we read through Your Word and pray for our world, speak to us anew about Your Saving and Sacrificial Love.

We pray this in Our Savior’s name,

Amen.

PRAYERFULLY READING FROM A GOSPEL

Suggestion for how to pray through each daily Scripture:

As you read about Jesus and his encounters with others, how might be God be speaking to you a new this Holy Week?

How might Jesus’ words spoken to his disciples and others be words of life and hope, guidance, conviction, and love which you need today?

Daily Gospel readings for week of April 6

Monday Matthew 21:18-22

Tuesday Mark 14:1-9

Wednesday John 14:1-7; 25-27

Thursday Mark 14:12-26

PRAYER FOR OUR CHURCH, CITY, COUNTRY, WORLD, AND YOUR OWN LIVES

Prayer prompts: *for a sense of connection with one another as we walk through this Holy Week

*for those who are grieving losses (passing of loved one or friend, loss of job, loss of routine, loss of health…)

*for medical teams—strength, wisdom, protection from illness

*for those with the coronavirus and for those caring for them

*for a vaccine and cure for the coronavirus

CLOSING PRAYER FOR EACH DAY THIS WEEK

Almighty God,

As we have walked with Jesus in these moments, bring to our minds His words as we continue through this day.

For He spoke words of instruction, words encouraging us to have faith, words of thanksgiving, words of conviction, words uttered in agony, words offering peace all during one week.

He spoke these words during tender moments with his friends at Bethany and his Disciples during the Last Supper and well as during soul shattering moments of total isolation.

Open our lives a new this week to Your Saving and Sacrificial Love

A love which understands triumphal, joy filled moments of Palm Sunday as well as the piercing physical pain of crucifixion.

A love which spared nothing and suffered in a greater way than we could ever imagine

A love which deeply knows all of the physical, emotional, and even spiritual pain we may experience.

Ground us and secure us with Your constant and never changing love today and always.

We pray this in our Savior’s Name,

Amen.

I am thankful for each of you and for your passion for prayer.  May God hold you and guide you through these places in His Word during our Noon Time Prayer as well as every moment this week.

Hope in Christ,

Becky Davis
