SATURDAY FAQ’S

BACK TO THE 150TH
  • If I have young children, can they participate in the Serve Day? Is childcare provided for little ones who aren’t ready to serve yet?

    • Please bring your children to serve with us! Children are encouraged to participate so we will not be providing childcare. Since we are breaking up in groups to beautify downtown, parents will be able to be with their children–so bring them as young as you are comfortable with!

  • If I lack mobility, will there be a way for me to participate in the Serve Day?

    • Yes! If you are concerned about your ability to participate because of limited mobility, we will be sending a group to gather in the chapel for prayer for the city and for the Gospel to be planted deeply rooted in all nations.

  • Will there be seating provided at the church family meal?

    • Yes, there will be limited seating around tables for the church family meal. The Great Lawn will also be open for anyone who would enjoy having a picnic lunch.

  • What should I bring/wear?

    • Wear good walking shoes and whatever you feel comfortable working outside in. Remember, you might get a little dirty! A water bottle is a must and sunglasses and a hat may be a good addition.

  • Where do we meet when we arrive?

    • Meet on the Great Lawn. There you will find people to check you in and assign you to your group.

  • Do we need to register in advance or can we just show up?

    • In order to have an accurate count for lunch, we ask that you please register. If something in your schedule changes at the last minute, please do not hesitate to come, we just won’t be able to guarantee a lunch for you.

  • What kinds of service projects will we be doing?

    • First Pres is partnering with Keep Orlando Beautiful and tasks can vary, but we will mostly be walking downtown to pick up and bag trash and litter.

  • Should we bring our own tools or supplies?

    • No, we will provide everything needed!

  • Will snacks or water be provided? What about lunch during the festivities?

    • Please bring your own water to have with you while we are serving, and any snacks if you feel you will need nutrition before we eat lunch. Lunch and drinks will be provided for everyone who registers when we return to the church after serving together.

  • How are teams assigned? Can we request to serve with friends or small groups?

    • Teams will be assigned at the check-in tables. If you’d like to serve with friends or family, please connect with them before approaching the check-in tables.

  • Who do I contact if I need to update my registration or if my plans change?

    • Any additional questions or changes to your registration can be sent to 150@fpco.org.

  • What happens if it rains?

    • We are very hopeful for clear skies in early March, but if the forecast requires a rain contingency plan, we will communicate it closer to the event.

  • Can students receive volunteer hours for participating?

    • Yes! Please have them bring their form pre-printed and filled out! A First Pres staff person will be happy to sign off.

  • Where should we park?

    • Parking is available in the Orange County garage. The entrance is located off of Liberty street. Parking validation slips will be provided to allow you to park for free.

  • Will there be t-shirts or event swag?

    • Absolutely! T-shirts will be provided and we are encouraging everyone to wear them while we serve together.

  • What will happen after we finish serving?

    • There will be inflatables, Chick-Fil-A lunch, Kelly's ice cream and time for lots of fun! We hope you’ll stay and linger!
