Spiritual Gift Workshops

Gifted to Serve, Spiritual Gift Workshops… what are they and why should I participate?

The Workshop:

The Prayer and Spiritual Formation Ministry has designed a workshop, completed in three consecutive sessions, that will reveal the spiritual gifts you have been given. Discovering your God-given design will help you understand the purpose and role He created for you! Join with others as you work through thought provoking exercises and complete a spiritual gift assessment.

Why should I participate?

A ministry of serving others is an act of love for and devotion to Christ. Ministry, or serving, above all else, is an act of worship. Worship is not an event, but requires action on our part. Worship is recognizing our place of submission before a God who gives us our purpose.

God has a unique purpose or calling for each of our lives. The Bible calls all Christians to be ministers. Before we were born, God knew us and knows the plan or purpose for our life. He has gifted us to serve Him and others and understanding, discovering and employing those gifts connects us directly to God!

We all have been given gifts to fulfill our calling. He provides the resource we need to accomplish His will. Just as God’s purpose for each of us is unique, the gifts He gives us are unique.

Gifts are given to be used for others, in community and to serve God. They are not to be held by us, but to be shared. They are provided to be given away! Spiritual gifts are not given to build up the individual but to serve God and the community. When we use our gifts, we grow spiritually. When we serve others, we serve God.

We develop an understanding of our personal relationship with Christ as we serve in community. We were not created to be in existence by ourselves. God created us to be in fellowship with Him as well as live in community. He uses relationships, challenges, and joys of gift-based service to teach us about our relationship with Him.

Real spiritual growth is activated when we serve others. Spiritual growth happens when you participate in worship, Bible studies, fellowships and prayer. However, real spiritual growth is activated when we serve others.
