PROSPECTIVE PARENT OPEN HOUSE
Each year we host a Prospective Parent Open House for people interested
in knowing more about Weekday School. This year’s event will take place
in the evening on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Please let us know
of any friends and neighbors that we should invite to this program.
Tours are provided of our classrooms, playground, woodworking and
computer labs, and music/movement room.

BOOK FAIR
The annual tradition of the Weekday School Book Fair takes on a new
atmosphere this year! Stop by Barnes & Noble Booksellers on East
Colonial Drive Thursday, February 23, 2012 during the hours of
(xxx – xxx) for story telling, crafts and fun for the family. Personal
shoppers will assist you finding the items on your wish list, select
age-appropriate books for your child or a special gift. A percentage of
all purchases you make will be donated to Weekday School. You may also
purchase books to be donated to your child’s class and the WDS
library. Chik-Fil-A will also host a special event this evening,
allowing our families the opportunity to begin the family night out
together with dinner! A portion of these proceeds will also be given to
Weekday School.
MOTHER’S BRUNCH
A delightful morning spent with other Weekday School mothers,
grandmothers and friends. Brunch will be served to you and you will
receive a take-home treasure made for you by your child. It is a nice
time to socialize as tables are arranged by classroom. A guest speaker
will be on the agenda with an interesting topic related to parenting.
The brunch is a fun time for all. Please plan to attend on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.
DADDY & ME
This is a special day for our 3Day and 4Day children and their fathers. On Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 9:30 – 10:30 the
daddies come to spend time with their children at Weekday School.
During this time they will enjoy a snack with dad, share worship time
with dad, enjoy indoor and outdoor games together and other special
activities.
Each dad will receive a special keepsake from this
fun morning spent with their child. “Dad” can be dad, granddad, friend
of the family, or another Weekday School dad; don’t worry if it happens
to fall on a day when dad cannot be there.

OUTREACH MINISTRY
Throughout the school year our Outreach Ministry helps provide
opportunities to serve others in the community. An ongoing opportunity
includes the After School Outreach Ministry at FPCO; each month a
birthday cake is provided by a WDS family to help celebrate its
participants. Other area programs that have been served by our families
include the Coalition for the Homeless, Arnold Palmer Hospital, and
Tiger’s Den at Jones High School have been targeted
4DAY CELEBRATION
On Thursday, May 17, 2012 our four day classes join together in
worship and song in the First Presbyterian Church chapel to celebrate
the end of their Weekday School days. As a parent of a four day
student, you will not want to miss this gathering. More information
will come home in your child’s bag as the date arrives.

SUMMER FUN
Weekday School offers two sessions of Summer Fun, each is four days from
9am – 1pm. There are crafts, outdoor play, movies, water play, free
play, story time, snack and movement. This year the dates are
Session 1 – May 29 – June 1, 2012
Session 2 – June 4 – June 7, 2012

FINE ART & COOKING CAMP
Three sessions are offered in the early summer. The hours are 9:00 am –
1:00pm. Lunch is provided. The children learn about different
cultures and music and stories. They cook, craft, paint, play outside,
and learn to work together to create lunch each day.

FUN FRIDAYS
This is an additional day of creative stimulating curriculum for our 4Day Students. The Spring session begins on Fridays in January 13 2012 from 9:00 – 12:00 pm.
Our teachers use multiple learning methods in Literature, Language,
Math, Science Art and Music. There is limited space available for each
session. Each Friday is a self contained lesson. The cost is $20.00
per child per session. Payment is due the first Friday of every month.

ART ANGELS
This is a fine arts program offered to our 3Day and 4Day students during
the fall and spring; sessions are held on Wednesday or Thursday
afternoons from 2:00pm – 3:00pm. Families will have the opportunity to
sign-up in advance; space is limited. The cost is 90.00 for a 6 class
session. Two sessions are available. You may choose one session or
two.
There are many new and innovative ideas for young children
to explore in the world of art! We will be looking at and discussing
our work of the “Masters”, but will also be creating our own, unique
masterpieces! We can learn many things from the great artists, but our
self-expression will be our own! We will be exploring with lots of
different mediums, such as acrylic, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink,
montage, collage, mixed-media and clay!

WEEKDAY SCHOOL PRAYER WALK
Please join other WDS staff, parents and children for a brief time of prayer for our school. On Tuesday, August 23, 2011 gather under the Angel Wing for a group prayer led by either our Senior Pastor or Associate Pastor. We will then pray silently as we walk through the school hallways, stopping by each classroom to pray specifically for each child and teacher.
''Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.'' Philippians 4:6-7
WEEKDAY SCHOOL NEW PARENT ORIENTATION
Please join us on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 learn more about Weekday School. This meeting will give you an opportunity to learn about the Weekday School’s philosophy, calendar, curriculum, and more. You will hear about special Weekday School events and our Advisory Board and you will meet other new parents in Weekday School. Childcare will be provided upon request.

WEEKDAY SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE
You will have time to enjoy refreshments, mingle with parents, meet the Weekday School staff and hear an overview of our philosophy. In addition, you will meet in your child’s classroom to see special artwork, learn more about your child’s teacher and his/her Weekday School experience. Teachers will be reviewing more details regarding developmental characteristics, their classroom schedule, curriculum, etc.
Please plan to attend on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 between 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Lee Fellowship Hall. This evening is for parents only, no childcare provided.
WEEKDAY SCHOOL FUN FAIR
The Weekday School annual Fun Fair is a day for all of our families and their friends to kick up their heels and raise money for our great school.
Fun Fair offers pony rides, moonwalks, slides, games, clowns, and food. In addition, we will have a Silent Auction. The Fun Fair and Silent Auction are Weekday School’s big opportunity to raise money for scholarships, school equipment, supplies and furnishings. But it’s also a day for our families, friends, teachers and staff to spend time together! Many parents say this is one of the most rewarding events they have ever participated in. Great satisfaction comes from knowing that we have helped to raise money for the Weekday School, a place that means so much to all of us. We encourage you to invite friends and neighbors that would enjoy participating in this event.
To make this event our biggest success yet, we need your help. There are numerous opportunities to become involved. Plan to join us on Saturday, November 5, 2011, for this exciting event.
SILENT AUCTION
Each year our Weekday School holds a Silent Auction in connection with our annual Fun Fair. The Silent Auction provides a wonderful opportunity for Weekday School parents to bid on terrific items below retail value, and at the same time make a financial contribution to the Weekday School. The items sold at the event are donated by Weekday School parents, business and community leaders and generous church members. Our goal is to raise money for scholarships, school equipment, supplies and furnishings. This will be a great time to purchase Christmas gifts for family and friends!

THANKSGIVING COFFEE AND WORSHIP SERVICE
The children at Weekday School take part in a very touching worship service held in the Sanctuary for their family and friends. Each class will present a song of worship and praise. You will have the opportunity to purchase a video of this service since cameras are not allowed in the sanctuary. Children will bring a canned good to donate to the Community Food Bank for those families who need assistance with groceries. A coffee is held in the King Parlor prior to this service where delicious refreshments are served and a time to socialize with friends is available.
The Thanksgiving Coffee and Worship Service will be Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
CUP OF CHRISTMAS TEA
Early in December, Weekday School Moms and friends gather to enjoy a relaxing, fun fellowship and learn ways to prepare their hearts and homes for Christmas. You will enjoy coffee and brunch and a time to socialize with friends. This gathering will give you the perfect opportunity to stop and reflect on the true meaning of the season for yourself and your family. The Cup of Christmas Tea will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011.
