LIFE Community Introduction

The growth of the LIFE Community ministry at FPCO is one that is evolving and unfolding in phases. We currently have over 25 LIFE Community Groups meeting in homes across Orlando. Yet, that is not enough. We are praying that the Lord will give breath to 30 new LCGs within the next year, and help shape the Church to look more like the bride of Christ than ever before.
This year is a time of renovation and preparation as I, the Director of LIFE Community, along with my assistant, Hailey Domeck, and the LIFE Community team develop a plan to incorporate more Christ followers into missional community, where LIFE Community Groups become our primary means of sharing God’s love with one another. We wish to prepare for the fulfillment of this God-inspired dream by having LIFE Communities become a way of life in the city of Orlando and beyond.
Our vision of the LIFE Community initiative is to be a church where all are loved, cared for, and developed as disciples of Jesus Christ. I think of what the Apostle Paul wrote in I Corinthians 11:1, “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.” Thus, the purpose of a LIFE Community Group is to move each person in our church family towards Christ-like living and loving.
Many in our church family are unclear as to the similarities and differences that exist between what we know of a typical small group compared with the values and purpose of a LIFE Community Group. The diagram below will hopefully be a way for us all to learn, embrace, and ultimately become a part of the LIFE Community vision for how we will seek, share, and serve together in the years ahead.
