I'm New

Welcome to FPCO

In the name of Jesus Christ, welcome to the web ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando (FPCO)! We are a vibrant, Christ-centered congregation seeking to honor God through our witness and service in The Heart of the City. Whether you are a person seeking answers to personal spiritual questions, or one desiring to grow deeper in your personal walk with Jesus Christ, my prayer is that this website will help you find the ministries in our church that will meet your needs.

The call of Jesus to the disciples in Mark 3 was a twofold call. First, He wanted them to be with Him. At FPCO, our primary means for being in the presence of God is worship. We worship through seeking, sharing and serving our Lord Jesus Christ. I encourage you to visit us on Sunday in the Sanctuary for our 8:30 or 11am Traditional service, or in Lee Fellowship Hall for our 8:30, 9:45 or 11am contemporary Genesis service to experience the presence of God as we worship. If you are not able to join us, you can watch from your computer through our live online worship sections that offers past sermons so you can get a flavor for what our worship is like. In addition, we have a host of discipleship ministries designed to draw you into the presence of God through fellowship, study of God’s Word, and prayer. Whether it be in a Sunday School class, a small group, or a weekday class, I know you will be encouraged in your faith.

The second part of Jesus’ call was that they might be sent out. We believe that our faith compels us into ministries of witness and service. If, in fact, our lives have been transformed by the redeeming grace of God in Christ, then we should joyfully respond to that gift by sharing it with others through word and deed. Again, this website can familiarize you with a number of outreach and service opportunities that are lifting up the name of Christ in a variety of ways.

When we live in this twofold rhythm, I believe we begin to experience what God intended when He called us together as “the church.” We are far from perfect, but by the power of His Holy Spirit, relying on His grace, we can be used by God to do significant things for His sake and for the good of His Kingdom. Too often, people think that they must attain some level of “spirituality” or “holiness” before they come to the church. I hope you realize that is far from the truth. Jesus meets us at the point of our need. First Presbyterian Church of Orlando is filled by sinful people touched by the grace of God, and I hope you will feel encouraged to join our family as we struggle down the path of faith. It’s a challenging journey – and an exciting one! Explore the ministries of our church on this site and then take your next step of faith with us. I look forward to sharing in ministry with you soon.

Warm regards in Christ,

Dr. David D. Swanson
Senior Pastor
