2012 Summer Women’s Bible Study

Summer Bible study for women…James – Mercy Triumphs!
There is just something about studying God’s Word, taking a book from the bible, and really focusing on the message. Getting a glimpse of the history and culture in the time it was authored is important, but what is more impactful is how that ancient Word will transform our life today. It is our hope and prayer that you will accept this invitation of Women’s Ministry to engage in this summer study!
We have selected Beth Moore’s newest study, “James, Mercy Triumphs”. This will be an eight week study on the book of James. The author of this book, the brother of Jesus and a leader in the Jerusalem church, provides practical advice for living the Christian life. James offers to Christians how to act justly in society, the importance of controlling one’s speech, distinguishes two kinds of wisdom, earthly and heavenly while encouraging us to turn from evil and obey God. Finally, he tells us to be patient with one another, to pray for each other and to help each other remain faithful to God. You might say this is a “how-to” book on Christian living!
In this study, Beth will unpack what it might have been like to grow up in the same household, with the Messiah. Half brothers - one the son of Joseph, the other the son of God. We know James’ disbelief of who is older brother was comes to an abrupt end when Jesus paid him a personal visit – one on one – post resurrection! Wouldn’t you have loved being a ‘fly on the wall’ for that encounter?
