A dynamic and diverse ministry for children. We meet kids where they are and invite them to have fun with Jesus while helping them to connect with their personal faith journey.

Sunday Morning Activities

Walk With Me: Sunday School for Kindergarten through 5th grade children.
Our Kindergarten through 5th graders will learn about the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Consistently Reformed/Presbyterian in its approach to Scripture, Walk With Me goes beyond head knowledge and challenges children to respond with their hearts and lives, to live their faith, and to make a personal commitment to Christ. Every Sunday during the school year at 9:45am.

Children's Worship: Worship experience for Kindergarten children.
Kindergarten children come together to sing, pray, read, and discuss special stories that bring a Bible verse to life. Allows for our youngest Children's Ministry members to experience God and worship Him in their own way! Led by volunteers every Sunday at 8:30 and 11:00 during the school year.

Junior Worship: Alternative worship experience for 1st through 3rd grade children.
Elements include fellowship, open prayer, offering, and a lesson that explores ways in which we can practically apply the teachings of God's Word to our lives. Led by volunteers every Sunday year round at 8:30 and 11:00 am.

Summer Sunday School: Sunday School for rising 1st through 5th grade children.
Our children spend all summer long focusing on a foundational theme of the christian faith. Lessons center on interactive Bible stories and skits, Scripture memory verses, and hands-on activities that get kids connected with the lesson. Taught by volunteers at 9:45am in primary and intermediate group settings. Available June through August.

Faith Growth Opportunities for K-Kids

Here at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, we have created a plan for children, from 1st – 5th grades, to grow in their faith. Each class is offered to a recommended age group; however, any age child is eligible to participate in these offerings. The hope is that every child would, at some point, participate in these classes so when they reach middle school they would have a personal spiritual foundation to take them through adult life. Sunday School provides sound biblical knowledge, while these classes, also biblically based, partner with that knowledge to make it a personal journey of faith.

First Communion Class is recommended to first grade children. First graders are encouraged to remain in the main worship service on Communion Sundays as a way to begin to engage them in this Holy Sacrament. Therefore, it is important they have an understanding of this sacred part of worship. The class is an explanation of the connection of the Passover Seder to our Communion. The class is completed in a personal and quiet participation in Communion in worship. Advance registration is required by calling 407.423.3441 x1480.

IMOG stands for “in the Image of God”. This class is recommended for children in the 2nd and 3rd grades. This is a study of faith basics. Covered in the class are prayer, Bible history, personal Bible study, worship, stewardship, and the importance in church participation. Children are challenged with memorization and at home assignments. Class completion is recognized with a certificate of recognition and a small gift. This class requires a seven week commitment. Class begins October 4th, 2009. Register online.

Confirmation Class is recommended for 4th and 5th graders. This is a serious and challenging commitment, as the completion of this class leads to full church membership. Memorization and at home assignments are part of this class, which requires a 12-week commitment to class and worship attendance. The class concludes with an exam with the Session (the church’s governing body) and a commitment before the congregation.

These classes are designed to assist your child(ren) in their faith journey. None of these are required, but they are available to help children grow. Every child should have an opportunity to discover their own personal road of faith and to really understand what it means to live a life for Christ. From these classes, may your child(ren) find their path and grow deeper in their walk on that path with Jesus. Look for details in January 2010.
